Be a Second Year student with 18 credits and Legal Research class completed
Be committed to the mentorship relationship for two consecutive semesters
Understands the relationship is voluntary
Observes confidentiality strictly
Understands there are no guaranteed results
Gives advice but expects the Mentee to make their own decisions
Asks questions to determine the issue
Assists in creating strategies and objectives for success in class
Assists Mentee in overcoming any personal barriers they may have
Will not act as an advocate on behalf of Mentee to instructors or administration
Focuses on needs of Mentee
Be respectful and courteous - timeliness and cancellations
Be honest and open
Be confident
Be easy to approach
Be flexible
Be encouraging and positive
Be patient and understanding
See the mentee as an equal
