Mentor:
- Be a Second Year student with 18 credits and Legal Research
class completed
- Be committed to the mentorship relationship for two consecutive
semesters
- Understands the relationship is voluntary
- Observes confidentiality strictly
- Understands there are no guaranteed results
- Gives advice but expects the Mentee to make their own decisions
- Asks questions to determine the issue
- Assists in creating strategies and objectives for success in
class
- Assists Mentee in overcoming any personal barriers they may have
- Will not act as an advocate on behalf of Mentee to instructors
or administration
- Focuses on needs of Mentee
- Be respectful and courteous - timeliness and cancellations
- Be honest and open
- Be confident
- Be easy to approach
- Be flexible
- Be encouraging and positive
- Be patient and understanding
- See the mentee as an equal

- Learns about campus resources, programs and networks to eliminate
factors that may prevent success
