Transfer Admission Guidelines

Applicants must have earned an overall grade point average of a C (2.0) in all college courses completed. Enrolling students are generally expected to have a 2.5 grade point average. Students with 2.0-2.5 grade point averages may be considered for admission. Students who have earned less than sixteen semester credits or the equivalent, must also submit a copy of their official high school transcripts with their admission materials. We reserve the right to request high school transcripts for any transfer applicant.

General Education Requirements and THE HAMLINE PLAN

Hamline does not accept the Associate Degree or the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum as satisfying the general education requirements of the college. All courses are transferred on an individual basis. However, in most cases the transferable courses completed for the Associate in Arts degree will satisfy many, if not all, of Hamline's general education requirements.

A student may transfer to Hamline at any time. The maximum number of credits that may be transferred to Hamline from a community college is 64 semester credits or 96 quarter credits. For transfer students, generally the number of courses completed in a specific area will be considered rather than the number of credits earned.

Major: Transfer of courses into major program will be determined by the departmental faculty. See Hamline transfer counselor for more information.

To meet Hamline Plan requirements, a course must be a least three semester credits or the equivalent.

Please review the Fine Arts requirement for the exception.
