Overview
The AAS degree is 60-64 credits and takes two years to complete IF you attend full time and do not have any preparatory college courses that need to be taken. If you attend part time, completion time will depend upon how many credits you take each semester
As the above chart illustrates, about 2/3 of your credits are courses you take to prepare for a specific occupation. For example, if you are pursuing a computer degree,
2/3 of your coursework would be computer related courses. The remaining 1/3 of your coursework are general education requirements. Examples of general education courses are: English writing, history, speech, math, biology, psychology, geography, chemistry, political science, sociology, music, theatre, art etc.
The Associate in Applied Science degree - or AAS degree - is designed to prepare you for employment in a specific area. The AAS degree is not designed to transfer.
