Welcome to Inver Hills Community College and our Online Orientation. We are
happy that you have chosen to study at Inver Hills CC. We are confident that you
will have a rewarding experience at the college.
This orientation is designed to introduce you to information that will help
you to be successful at IHCC.
You will cover five sections of material by selecting from the tabs above:
- Discovering my options
- Choosing my classes
- Registering for my classes
- Secrets for my Success
- Rights and Responsibilities
- Personal Academic Report form (See below)
The Online Orientation is available to new incoming transfer students
with a solid academic background and to students who are changing their admission
status (from “limited” or “special”) to “regular” status. The Online Orientation provides the information you will need to complete a
PERSONAL ACADEMIC REPORT (PAR). After completing the Online Orientation, please click
the PAR link at the top of the page to go to the
Personal Academic Report form.
Upon submitting the
PAR form you will receive information about how to register. You
will bypass the
advising assistance and register on your own. Under this option you
assume full responsibility for your course selections. (NOTE: These
registration options are only available for students who have a complete
application file, have been admitted to the college, and are either transfer
students in good academic standing or students who are converting their
admission status.)
Online orientation is designed for students who:
• Have proven success at another college or university
• Are self-motivated learners comfortable with a text-heavy computer
environment
• Are comfortable reading and interpreting a computerized report of transfer
coursework and are confident about appropriate course selection
• Can delay a counseling appointment until after the term begins
Online orientation is not appropriate for students who:
• Require personal assistance with academic and/or career counseling
• Are seeking entrance into programs such as Nursing and Emergency Health
Services, which require an additional application and completion of
prerequisite coursework
• Have extensive questions regarding transferability of coursework
