Our mission at the Center for Professional and Workforce Development is to equip staff, supervisors, and managers with the knowledge and tools required for organizational success.  The courses listed below can be customized to your organizational needs.

 

Influencing Others Using the DiSC®

Whether it’s with peers, senior executives, or external clients, influencing skills will help you to reach win-win agreements.  By the end of the workshop, participants will:

  • Describe the 4 primary behavioral styles and recognize them in themselves and others;
  • Understand how their work behavioral tendencies may affect others;
  • Learn how and when to adapt their behavior;
  • Understand what motivates others styles;
  • Develop strategies for working together to increase productivity and minimize potential conflicts and misunderstandings.

Understanding Today’s Workforce: Age and Style

Participants learn, discuss, and explore the dynamics of the modern workplace, the demographics of their customer base and themselves. 

  • Overview of the four generations in today’s workforce and customer base
  • Materials that help generations understand each other, leading to reduced conflict and less tension
  • Psychological/behavioral profiles and best practices in working with each style
  • Greater understanding of how to motivate and sell to diverse populations

 

·     Conflict Management

Participants manage conflict by understanding themselves and others using the components of  the “conflict cycle".

  • Examination of belief systems and real workplace conflicts

  • Anticipating conflict based on generation or personality

  • Focus on personal accountability for stress reduction

  • Concrete suggestions to reduce conflict

Giving and Receiving Feedback

Develop a high-performance organization by ensuring that both managers and employees gain skill and comfort at delivering and receiving important feedback focused on their work and behaviors.  By the end of the workshop, participants will:

  • Identify the impact of delivering feedback, and why they tend to avoid it;
  • Understand the impact of the Ladder of Inference, and how to recognize when it occurs;
  • Develop skills around delivering both reinforcing & redirecting feedback to both peers and leaders;
  • Develop self management skills so that they can learn from the feedback that we get.
