Nursing Assistant / Home Health Aid - Non-Credit Introduces concepts of basic human needs, health/illness continuum, and basic nursing skills in long-term care and/or home care environments. Skills are taught in a simulated laboratory setting utilizing demonstration and role-playing. Upon successful completion of classroom studies, the student will participate in 24 hours of supervised clinical experience in a long-term care facility. This course meets the objectives of the Federal OBRA and Minnesota Department of Health requirements as detailed for educating the nursing assistant. Students should be fluent English speakers. Course includes a malpractice insurance fee, textbook/course packets, lab kit and background study. Students must also have a criminal background clearance prior to clinicals and a Mantoux done by the first day of class. Mantoux test can be completed at the Inver Hills Community College Health Services located in the College Center. On completion of this course the student is eligible to take the NA/HHA competency examination. Prerequisites: Must be a Minimum of 16 years of age to register. :
