These courses provide high school students with a comprehensive journey through computer fundamentals and an introduction to advanced concepts. It also allows students to gain practical knowledge of how a computer works. 

Computer Networking I

This course provides high school students foundational networking knowledge, practical experience and opportunities for career exploration. It also allows students the opportunity to learn in a college environment with advanced equipment and instructors.

 Course Focus: Networking for Home & Small Businesses

• Set up personal computer system, including the OS, interface cards and peripheral devices

• Plan and install a small network connecting to the internet

• Troubleshoot network and internet connectivity

• Share resources such as files and printers among multiple computers

• Recognize and mitigate security threats to a home network

• Configure an integrated wireless access point and wireless client

Basic Computer Technology I

This course starts high school students on a comprehensive journey through computer fundamentals and provides an introduction to advanced concepts. It also allows students to gain practical knowledge of how a computer works. 

Course Focus: PC Hardware & Software Skills

• An excellent introduction to the IT industry

• Provides interactive exposure to personal computers, hardware, and operating systems

• Learn by “doing” - hands-on activities and lab-based learning to become familiar with various

hardware and software components and discover best practices in maintenance and safety

• Helps develop greater skills and confidence in working with desktop and laptop computers

• Prepares students for CompTIA’s A+ certification and entry-level IT positions
