IT Essentials I and II (A+ and Server +))
OverviewIT Essentials I and II are designed to build the knowledge and skills of individuals who are interested in establishing a foundation for work in the field of system administration or network technology. Participants should be comfortable using computer applications and computer operating systems such as Windows. There is no required prerequisite coursework. IT Essentials I (A+): PC Hardware and Software Through hands on activities and labs, students learn how to assemble and configure a computer, install operating systems and software, and troubleshoot hardware and software problems. This course prepares students for CompTIA's A+ Core Hardware Exam and A+ OS Technologies Exam. Student must purchase books, toolkit, exam vouchers, and other materials associated with this class. Cost DOES NOT include MnSCU fees. IT Essentials II: Server Operating Systems This course is an intensive introduction to multi-user, multi-tasking server operating systems. Characteristics of the Linux, Windows 2000, NT, and XP server operating systems will be discussed. Students will explore a variety of topics including installation procedures, security issues, back up procedures and remote access. This course helps students prepare for CompTIA's Server+ Exam. Student must purchase books, exam vouchers, and other materials needed for this class. Cost DOES NOT include MnSCU fees.
