Computing Services: Employee Network Accounts

All employees are provided with a personal campus network account. The campus network account is the key that provides access to the majority of technology services provided by the college.

Employee accounts are created and managed using information from the human resource record system. Accounts remain active as long as the person is employed at Inver Hills CC or other special arrangements are made with the Director of Academic Technology and Computing Services.

Usernames

The assignment of usernames is automated. The basic username construction pattern used is the first character of the first name, followed by the first six characters of the last name. In the event that the basic username is already in use, a sequential number will be appended to the end.

If the automated process does not produce a desirable username, an account can be created manually using a preferred username. E-mail addresses are automatically generated and based on information in the network account record so the sooner a request for a different username is made the less confusion it will create for those you communicate with by e-mail. Send a message to Tech Support (support@inverhills.edu) to open the dialog with the technical staff about getting a different username.

Passwords

Campus network account passwords must meet the following complexity rules:

Name Changes

If your name changes, first make sure the information in the human resource record system is accurate. Then send a message to Tech Support (support@inverhills.edu) to ask that your campus network account be changed to accurately reflect your name.
