ACCOUNTING INSTRUCTOR (Unlimited
Full-Time)
Inver Hills Community College seeks an innovative instructor dedicated to
excellence in teaching who desires to become part of a creative, vibrant,
student-centered learning community. New faculty will practice contemporary
teaching strategies, including learner outcome assessments and online
instruction. Classes are held on campus as well as at off-campus sites.
Classes meet in smart classrooms during daytime hours, in the evenings, on
weekends, and online. Faculty members at Inver Hills Community College are
professionally active scholars who participate in departmental and
campus-wide matters to enhance their disciplines, promote interdisciplinary
discourse and collaboration, and advance the college mission.
Expectations include continuous curriculum development, revision of
instructional material, and assessment of learner outcomes. Collegiality is
essential for ongoing development of departmental missions and objectives.
Inver Hills Community College expects faculty to fully participate on
committees involving academic, professional, and student development. Due
to our diverse student population, courses may include daytime, evenings,
weekend, online, or off-campus components.
Located 10 minutes from downtown St. Paul, Inver Hills is an open door
community college which serves over 5000 students each semester through
liberal arts, transfer, and career programs. Nationally recognized in adult
experiential learning, Inver Hills is an Academic Quality Improvement
Program (AQIP) institution. The college is committed to reflecting a
diversity of perspectives and backgrounds among its administrators, faculty
and staff.
Inver Hills Community College seeks an Accounting Instructor to teach
undergraduate majors and non-majors accounting classes (including Accounting
Basics, Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Federal Individual
Income Tax, Accounting Computer Applications, etc.).
Instructors work 171 days during a nine-month academic year and receive
excellent benefits, including year-round health and dental insurance, paid
sick and personal leave and a retirement program.

Appointment: Unlimited full-time beginning August 20, 2008
Starting Salary: $36,500 to
$57,500/year to start, based on education, and teaching and related
professional experience. Salary potential to $68,000 based on continued
employment. (Salary range as of 6/30/2008; collective bargaining agreement
is still being negotiated.)
Minimum Qualifications:
·
Master’s degree with a major in accounting; or
·
Master’s degree in any field with 16 graduate semester/24
graduate quarter credits in accounting; or
·
Bachelor’s degree in accounting with a CPA
or CMA certificate.
Preferred Qualifications:
·
Teaching experience.
·
Experience developing and using student-centered, active and
experiential learning strategies.
·
Experience incorporating technology into curriculum delivery,
including teaching online courses.
·
Experience assessing student academic achievement.
·
Experience working with diverse populations, first generation
students, underrepresented groups, and under-prepared students.
