Building Inspection Technology Instructors (Adjunct)

Inver Hills Community College seeks dedicated professionals to teach in the Building Inspection Technology Program. It is an exciting opportunity for a specialist to educate people working in the field while using traditional and online teaching techniques.  You provide the class content - we teach you how to deliver your class presentation online!

The College offers an Associate in Applied Science degree in Building Inspection Technology, a Building Inspection Technology Certificate, a Building Permit Technician Certificate, and a Building Inspection Technology Core Certificate.

The BIT Program is designed to introduce individuals to the Construction Code profession, to provide a better understanding of codes to those who work with the profession, and to enhance the abilities of individuals currently involved in the Construction Code profession.

We are seeking qualified individuals to teach two-credit courses in Plan Review, Structural, and Building for Energy Conservation beginning August 20, 2008.  Classes are taught in an eight week period.

Job Requirements:

·        a  Certificate in BIT and a minimum of three (3) years of job related experience; Or 

·        certification by the State of Minnesota as Building Officials and/or International Code Council (ICC) certification as a Certified Building Official, strong code knowledge and  a minimum of three (3) years of experience in the field;  Or

·        a registered Architect; Or

·        a licensed Engineer; Or

·        other construction professionals  with strong code knowledge,  work experience of three (3) or more years, and relevant educational background.

We are specifically looking for someone with experience in applying or design of the building codes relating to the structural and energy provisions.

Salary:  $525 to $1200 per credit, depending on education and experience plus $1500 for curriculum development.
