AT – A – GLANCE

 

Inver Hills Community College was established in 1970.  The main campus is located in Inver Grove Heights, MN, with courses also regularly scheduled at various locations in and around the Twin Cities area including Cottage Grove, Apple Valley, Minneapolis and Hastings. 

 

There are approximately 5000 students enrolled each semester with the median age being 25.  About half of the students go on to 4-year degrees from IHCC.

 

Class sizes average 30 students per class and each faculty member must hold a master’s degree in his/her area of specialization.  The academic calendar is based upon semesters with classes beginning in late August, mid-January and the first part of June each year.  The academic classes and seminars are offered weekdays, weekday evenings and Saturdays.

 

IHCC has educational programs that include:  AA degree, 14 AS degrees, 31 AAS degrees, and various certificate programs.  Some of the more unique programs include Urban Teacher Education, Emergency Health Services, Aviation and others.  The average cost per credit is just over $100.

 

Intercollegiate sports opportunities are offered to students in cooperation with Dakota County Technical College (DCTC).  Students at IHCC are eligible to try out for men’s wrestling and baseball and women’s soccer teams at DCTC.

 

The campus provides many services to staff and students in addition to educational opportunities including day care, food service, access to nautilus/workout equipment, library materials, and many more!
