FREN 1101 Beginning French I Web-enhanced (5
credits)
Students acquire basic language skills (listening comprehension, speaking,
reading, and writing). They are also introduced to Francophone culture. Offered in fall.
FREN 1102 Beginning French II
Web-enhanced (5 credits)
A continuation of FREN 1101. Students develop further their language skills
and become more familiar with Francophone culture. Recommended Prereq: FREN
1101. Offered in spring.
FREN 2201 Intermediate French I (MnTC, goal 8) Online (5 credits)
A comprehensive review of first-year material and an introduction to new,
more sophisticated structures. Students delve more deeply into Francophone
culture with an emphasis on history, art, music, and current events. Prereq: FREN 1102 or equivalent. Offered in fall.
FREN 2202 Intermediate French II (MnTC goal 8) Online (5 credits). A
continuation of FREN 2201. Students refine their language skills and achieve
a more profound understanding of Francophone culture. Recommended Prereq: FREN 2201 or equivalent. Offered in spring.
FREN 1111 French Culture and Civilization
(MnTC goals 6, 8) (3 credits)
Taught in English. A broad survey of French Culture from the
ancient Gauls to the present day. Students
examine major events and famous people. They explore paramount achievements
in art, architecture, film, literature, music, and thought. Offered
periodically.
