The French program at Inver Hills enables students to effectively speak, read, write, and understand the French language. It also familiarizes them with the rich cultural traditions of France and the many Francophonic countries around the world. Students participate in interactive, learner-centered activities that involve real-life situations. Learning is enhanced through music, video, art, and cultural events on campus. As a small department with experienced and dedicated faculty, students receive personalized attention that meets their individual needs. They also enjoy free on-campus tutoring.

The program provides a variety of extra-curricular activities including French Club, interdepartmental lectures, film evenings, breakfast celebrations, outings to French restaurants and other events. Each year, the department recognizes students for outstanding achievement in French.

Majoring or minoring in French can lead to successful careers in international business, diplomacy, journalism, art history, haute cuisine, teaching, and scholarship.
