IHCC Career Planning Resources:
Professional counselors provide career assessment and planning assistance for students through individual appointments, classes, workshops, and the Career Development Center.
The Career Development Center (CDC) is located in the Counseling Center and is open for walk-in use or counselor assisted appointments during scheduled hours. The CDC houses a wide range of resources and services to help you learn more about yourself, the world of work and job search techniques. The resources include printed, video and computerized career guidance and exploration materials. Minnesota Career Information System (MCIS) and Bridges Career Explorer are computerized resources available to you in the CDC. Employment services are also available through the CDC.
Minnesota Career Information System, Bridges Career Explorer and E Choices are computerized career resources are available to IHCC students. The college has purchased a site license for IHCC students to access this information. Please pick up the log in the Counseling/Career Development Center. If you are not on campus you may request this information via the Ask a Counselor service.
Changing your major: In order for the college to provide the best service, your major needs to be accurate in our computer system. It is not uncommon for the answer to a question to be contingent on your specific career and educational goals. To change your major, click here.
Career Connections Workshops are offered throughout the semester on various topics. The workshops are non-credit and typically meet only once. Upcoming workshops are posted on the Counseling Workshops page as well as in the IHCC Student Bulletin, which is published weekly.
CRDV 1100, Life/Career Planning, is a one-credit course designed to lead you through the process of self-knowledge, career research, and decision making. Day, evening and online classes are available for students. For the class schedule, select "Class Schedule" on the right menu bar and then select the term and CRDV to see when the class is offered!
Career Planning Interest Assessments are available through the Career Connections Workshops, the CRDV 1100 class and individually. Contact a Counselor for further information.
