BIOL 2205 Microbiology

3 Credits; 2 Class hours/week, 2 Lab hours/week


 

    This is an introductory course for students pursuing careers in Allied Health and related fields in the Biological Sciences. Topics include: survey of microbial groups, metabolism, control of microbes, microbial growth, epidemiology, infectious diseases, and recombinant DNA. Lab includes: aseptic technique, culturing, staining, enumeration, identification and biochemical testing of microorganisms as well as identification of a bacterial unknown. Lab component requires basic microscope skills. Prerequisite: BIOL 1120 or 1154 or 2201.
